Sunday, August 10th, 2014 Hi carrick, I presume it's a bantam hen your after therefore can't help, but hope you get sorted with another one. I'm sorry to hear you lost one of your best birds but fortunately/unfortunately? I have never known a fox to open a locked door. There are however a few foxes around who know exactly how to open a locked door and know how to pick the best birds out of a box. These being of the 2 legged variety. You may need to up the security if possible, although I know that there is only so much that can be done. Anyway sorry to hear and good luck, Ryan

Sunday, August 10th, 2014 Well I did think that and thought it was very weird it went the day before tullamore but I do have younger bothers that are out at the chickens to get the eggs but uselessly just go into the layers pen I wasn't around all that day. I came home in the evening closed the layers door and looked around to check where all the other breeding pen closed and they where. So either they opened the door and she ran out quickly and they locked the door so the rooster wouldn't get out or someone rob her.
