pheasant eggs

My Uncle had seen a pheasant nest in his field and each day saw the mum fly off but after a week of not seeing her he checked the nest and chanced bringing them to me. Ive never hatched pheasant. Is it the same as chicken eggs? And would a broody orpington be too big to give them to her?

I just incubated some Mary. Three reached hatch, but only one survived. For the first day, I had to keep it separate . I have no previous experience with pheasants, but I would think it was definitely too small for an Orpington broody. I even had to keep it separate from the Orpington chicks hatched the same day! They and the other chicks were taking hold of its legs and tossing it around. Day 2, it flew out of the box and back in with the others and was fast enough to evade trouble. Hopefully someone with more experience will give a response.

They take 25 days ,you need a good quality chick crum for them the higher the protien the better and dont put a drinker wit them or theyll drown a lid of a bucked or something like that for the first week or so,they aren't that hard to rear, and rearing with other chicks isnt a problem once theyre not overcrowded,as I reared them with silkies and lf chicks with no problems,if your chicks dont hatch,
I can give you a couple eggs to start again under a brooch or something if you would like,,i hatched some out under a welsummer and wyandotte hen this year and hadn't a problem,so weather or not your hen is bigger or smaller I dont know,
Best of luck,

if the eggs were let go cold for a week the eggs might be dead. pheasants in the wild like to be left alone i hatch pheasants with silkies here you need to keep them in a small coop with small mesh on it beacuse when they get out and about they just want get away from ya its the wild streak in them wcp feeds in baltinglass do a game crumb 28% protien

Thanks all. The uncle wasnt going near it until he didnt see the bird for a wk. Not sure if she had been laying them or sitting on them. I had a pekin broody so I stuck them under her. Hopefully something will come out. Ive an enclosed run for the chicks so Ill use that to contain them until they grow a bit. Ill have to check up about the feed side

We hatched some out under a hen years ago. Like Anthony said you need to keep them in a covered run, and as soon as they can fly they will be gone, without a backward glance!
