bluebell cocks have red tint and/or red feathers mixed in with the blue ones. pullets are blue with black tint to neck feathers

bluebelle are a hybrid an should only be sold as pullets an like the blackrock there should be no cockrels.as for the red feathers - my year old hen has them. like all fowl you will probebly get some exceptions to the rules.

I have a bluebell hen, laying, with red-tinted feathers at the front of her neck. Lots of people sell so-called bluebell or blue belle hybrids, from the formula of RIR x Marans (or whatever it is).

Meadowsweet Poultry owns the trademark for Bluebelle hybrids, and only hens sold by them or their agents are allowed to be called Bluebelle. Since they are sold as laying hens, I'd imagine cocks wouldn't even be in the market. If you have a bluebell cock, it likely isn't genuine. But even a 'fraudulent' hen should lay plenty of eggs :)

my bluebell rooster (rip) was one of the rare few that slipped through the hatcherys net, he was 1 of 2 in a batch of 400. got him cheap as he was a cockeral. would like another if another hatchery bred one turns up anywhere. still has great genetics to add to my experimental x-breeding project.

yep. the bluebell is a purpose bred crossbred, if you breed 2 together they could look like any of their ancestors, thats why they are hybrids not purebreds, they are purposefully hard to replicate appearance wise which is why the hatcherys make so much money from the trademark and why the hatcherys wont sell cockerals and why the breeding is such a guarded secret.
