Friday, January 30th, 2015 How did you come to this conclusion for starters they are not even in the shops till next week. The last 2 we bought a couple of years ago done very well for us fruiting every year.
I would think the low price comes form the supermarket buying them in mass.

Saturday, January 31st, 2015 that i doubt very much missy all root stock be it fruit trees or forestry stock has to pass certification and disease test before it's allowed into the country we have just planted 11 acres of hardwoods oak beech etc the hassle we had trying to get certified up to spec trees was monumental

Monday, February 16th, 2015 I have seen the buds, its from the extra hours of artificial light, the unnatural change of daylight hours does cause stress on the tree, but so does a tree being uprooted, that is very stressful too, but bare roots do recover once they never dry out and are not planted too late.
Potted established trees will always take better when planted and will produce a small basket of fruit in the first autumn of planting, but the price will reflect that a fair few times over. And by the second year, the bare root will catch up on the potted tree, making little difference in the yield.
Is the garden centre bare rooted trees going to produce 5-6 times more fruit than the Lidil/Aldi bare roots? Considering it is 5-6 times more expensive? I doubt it.
