Monday, February 17th, 2014 Ferg,
I don't know your stock and I'm not questioning their quality. I was simply asking how many birds from other breeders you were up against.
The Irish shows are quite small and with almost 200 rosettes handed out at the young bird show last year Its quite possible most people who entered a few birds got placed. A show worth winning and bragging about is one where there was stiff competition.
Its all relitave really. 1st and 2nd in a class with 6 birds split between 2 breeders, although a result, doesn't really carry the same merits a show with 20 birds displayed by 10 breeders would.
No need to get touchy about it. Its a genuine question that for some reason you have chosen not to answer.

Monday, February 17th, 2014 Fergus I have seen your birds for sale a couple of times last year and I have to say they are a real credit to the both of ye it is so hard to keep large fowl of this size clean and healthy all year round and present them the way ye do and I don't think I've ever seen anyone feeding their birds fancy feed at a sale but I've seen you do it I was impressed and you are obviously one of us that actually care about our birds so don't bother even replying to the negative comments your birds speak for themselves and that's all that matters really

Monday, February 17th, 2014 Actually bench, this is the general poultry chat forum! So my comments and questions are in the right section.
Sako, I dont know how you,ve been reading this thread but I genuinley cant find any negitave comments either from myself or anyone else.
Bench, if you think a genuine question is picking on someone, maybe public forums aren't the safest place for you....
I've asked a very straight forward question and really dont know what all the fuss is about.

I picked up birds from Liam and Fergus yesterday. Their birds are an absolute credit to them and they were the most upfront and honest sellers of poultry I have encountered to date. I am delighted with my new cochins and will definitely be calling again.

Monday, February 17th, 2014 This thread has now been moved from where it was origonaly posted, " the poultry chat forum" to here the for sale forum. As it was in the chat forum I deemed it acceptable to ask a question. It now seems that questions are not allowed.
As no point did I question the quality of said birds, bad mouth anyone or like someone else, resort to trashy childish comments. (give yourself a high five there sako)
As this thread has now been turned into a mikey moo hunt I'll bow out and wont fuel it any further.
Good night and God bless.

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 Hi all,
Mea Culpa - I erroneously started this post in the poultry chat section when it should have been in the sales section.
@Mikey Moo - To answer your question, from memory, there was about 12 cochin birds entered into last years ISPF show in Gurteen - and of that Fergus and I had 4 entered (which finished 1st and 2nd in cock and hen classes). Yes, the cochin classes aren't the biggest size, but are comparable to most other class sizes. We also had a number of other winners at various shows last year - including overall show champion at Midleton (c.40 birds of varying classes). As the man says, you can only beat what's in front of you ;)
@JF - yeap, we were at Myshall once late last year.
@chriscarey96 - no hatching eggs going at the moment Chris - incubating everything that's coming out. We'll do our best to sort you out in a months time, if you're still looking for some.
@Kate - glad to hear your new birds are settling in ok. Don't go painting them green and white now, come championship time ;)
@thomas k - Myshall is a little far away from us here so not sure if we'll be heading up there again, all depends on how the local sales go on down this neck of the woods.
