Horse feed suppliers,co-ops,farm stores or best of all is if you have an apple farm near you, they do the best acv of the lot because it,s not as distilled as the others so all the goodness is still there.

is this just another gimmick how come none of my birds gets this or any other meds and my birds are healty as hell . sorry but i feel if you need to give your birds a lift of some sort then simply you are not keeping your fowl right. good food x good houseing x good birds. simple as keep your pens clean and you wont need cider vinegar and the likes

Hunt is right. People seem to give every possible supplement to their fowl. Someone is making a fortune and it's not you guys for sure.

People have been using Cider vinegar for years and years.
It drops the ph in the gut and makes it inhospitable for any worms or coccidosis.

I start my chicks off on it at day old and all the birds have it everyday in thier water.

Get the 'horse type' as the supermarket sort is to refined.

Nothing wrong with offering supplements like acv or tonic or garlic once in a while. No different from taking vitamins even if you are eating a balanced diet. It's just another resource to fall back on in case they have an unexpected challenge to stress their health. And not that expensive really.

i drink the human version from the health food shop an the hens get theirs from the co op. as castle farm says dont use supermarket stuff, acv for poultry should be sort of cloudy with bits in it.

Martin - the cure for pip is a few doses of Fenbendazole, normally found in Panacur cattle drench. Alternatively if you dont keep cattle or know a farmer with some, you can buy Parazole (dog wormer) from most agri stores. 200ml is about €10. .5ml orally (LF hen/rooster)every day for about 4 days will solve the pip.

Hunt..My hens are fine..I want to keep them that way. I look after them well. They dont get anyting only good food, good housing and lots of frest water. They are clean and healthy and happy. There is no harm in doing whatever you can to help them. Thanks for your concern. Thanks everyone for your help.

i think what hunt is saying, is what i believe in that acv is not the be all cure all of poultry keeping , yes it 'may' help with your fowl or may not a hens intestine is designed to work at a given ph.! altering that is not necessarily a good thing it brings it's own problems
apple cider vinegar is promoted on the net as a cure for gout in humans as well as a whole pile of other stuff
if you do a bit more reading you will find loads of people it dosn't work on in fact makes them worse
mumbo jumbo i say

I call it "feel good factor" - the owners feel good because they think that they may be giving something beneficial to their birds. Maybe it is or maybe not. I used to see a lot of money spent by horse owners on the latest trendy product. The only one who benefited was the companies making the products. Most animals only require good food, shelter and clean water. Its more important that they are not giving them something harmful.
